IBM Company Information

IBM are one of the most famous names in commuting history and are often called "Big Blue". Their correct called International Business Machines Corporation, however.

With 388,000 they are certainly the largest computer company in the world and despite Hewlett-Packard overtaking IBM in terms of revenue, Big Blue has become the most profitable computer hardware organisations.

The company has been in existence since 1896 when it was known as the Tabulating Machine Company and became listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 1924 and became IBM in 1924 when it became a Fortune 500 company.

Fifty-seven years later IBM launched its first Personal Computer but 24 years later IBM sold its PC division to the Chinese company Lenovo for $655 in cash and £600 in Lenovo equity.
